SYNOPSIS Case # 1 Starring The Young Detective Squad By Richard Paul Haesche

Having the family car blow up in front of their house in Chicago is a very traumatic experience for the Webster family. Detective Sergeant Andy Webster of the Chicago Police Force, although reluctant to move because of a recent promotion, realizes his family’s safety comes first. They pack up and head for a small, rural community in Jackson, USA, where Andy, a black police detective, had recently inherited a house from his deceased father. Arriving in Jackson late at night, they park in the driveway of an old, broken down house. Angie, his sixteen year old daughter, is shocked when she first sees the house, but calms down when she learns that their own new home is the house next door. Its driveway can’t be driven on until the new pavement dries. Angie and Ophie, her young sister, excitedly explore their new home. Checking out her new bedroom, Angie finds it very hot and stuffy and opens a window for some fresh air. Seeing the old house next door, she remembers that her father said it had been raided for drugs and that two gangsters and a policeman were killed there. A cold chill runs up Angie's spine and she begins to wonder if the spooky-looking old house is haunted. She jokingly names the place ‘Monster Manor’ and is just about to close the window when she sees a flickering light coming from a boarded up cellar window of the old house.
